If you want the mid-size (8.5") dark shield, you can turn the clear upper portion upside down to 'store' it on your bike. When cruising down the highway and you need a bit more wind protection, flip the 'stored' clear upper shield to the upright position and your shield is now 12". The two-tone shield (dark lower, clear upper) gives excellent night visibility and you don't 'lose' the road in front from a too dark shield at night. I am really glad that I purchased this shield!
