(5 stars) reviewed on 08/06/10 byLance White (ctryboy78) from Garland, TX, United States, for a 2003 Pearl White/Taupe 1100 V-Star Classic wrote: Installed this tach tonight and it was easy, just read the directions and it will be ok. Looks great and compliments my bike well. I should have bought this item a long time ago. Install took me less than 1 hour and I have never taken the tank off before tonight. Too late to fire up tonight but when I turned on the bike it went through a full sweep and the light came on so at least it has power. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

I have a Clymer Manual and figured I would give it a shot. I made a couple of stands out of 2x4s,2x6s and 1x8s for the front and rear to hold the bike level and went to work. Mounting the tach on the handlebars was a snap. I put the tach just to the left of the left handlebar holder. I said difficult to install because I had never done it before and finding the coils and getting to them is not very obvious. The Clymer wants you to take more stuff off than necessary. Here is what needs to come off: You have to remove the seat, gas tank, and then the frame neck covers. The gas tank was easy, disconnect the fuel line, disconnect the white plug under the seat and take out 2 bolts and slide the tank back off of the rubber grommets.(I drained the fuel out of the tank before I started, also disconnected the negative side of the battery) My original black plastic frame covers had been replaced with chrome ones. They look good and I was ... Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Didn't want to splice into factory wiring. Works well. Needle pretty steady at 1000 rpm. Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Bought this tach and Yamaha risers to tie everything together. Had to replace the cluth cable. Not long enough. Front brake cable is a liitle tight, but okay. This allows you to monitor the engine rpm. I don't know why the manufacturer dosn't offer this as standard equipment. Review Details 1 out of 2 members found this review helpful. (5 stars) reviewed on 05/19/05 byPablo Lee (kingskid) from Sydney NSW Aust, , AU, for a 2001 Cherry Red/Ivory 1100 V-Star Classic wrote: I decided to install this Baron's Bullet Tach as replacement for the DS mini tach I had on the bike earlier. The latter though much cheaper than the former, was so erratic and inaccurate with a very inferior finish, not to mention the blinding glare of its overly bright backlight. It kunked out after only 6 months use and I had to claim from warranty. On the other hand Baron's Bullet Tach is much superior in quality, performance, design and finish. Installation is a breeze with a very straight forward instruction sheet. It is very much worth the price. Review Details 9 out of 9 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? (5 stars) reviewed on 04/01/05 byJon Adams (jonadams) from Mount Vernon, WA, United States, for a 2003 1100 V-Star Classic wrote: As nice as advertised! I installed on handlebars right between the clamps. Electrical installation required tank to come off in order to get under ignition coil cover. The included instructions were very easy to understand and the included clips worked great, except for one had to filed about 1/16th thinner (which, the instructions even mentioned). I do reccomend that you use electrical grease to protect the connections as they no longer as water proof because of the new extentions. In retrospect, I su[posed I could've used a better splitter if I had wanted. Review Details 6 out of 6 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

(those bolts will already be off). It's holding up as expected. Another reviewer noted of it jumping around (it's not a precision tach, just gives you an indication where the revs are).
