(5 stars) reviewed on 03/19/06 byStarKissed (StarKissed) from Central, MI, United States, for a 2008 1100 V-Star Custom wrote: Great addition for short-legged riders. This sets in closer to the bike than stock and because of that you end up with a more comfortable riding position. I added this at the same time as installing a set of BUB's. With both together I saw some performance increase. I did notice it takes a bit more time with the choke fully open to get moving when it's cold (not a problem, just an observation). UPDATE: At more than 35000 miles, this has held up very well. The finish looks great. I've had the filter element cleaned twice, it's probably time to do it again. With a raincoat, this intake will go through pouring rain. If you forgot your raincoat, it's good idea to pull over if it's raining hard. I took to keeping my in my tool kit. A little more expensive but i noticed power even before i had it jetted. Made my bike a lot faster than stock. Well worth it if your looking for horsepower. Installation took an afternoon. Not too difficult for someone with a fair amount of mechanical skill/experience. The toughest time I had was removing the float bowl screws (6 of the eight stipped, and I had to cut slots in them with a dremmel to use a flat blade screwdrive and get them off). Kit comes with new allen head bolts to replace the stock phillips ones. I used my drill press to drill out the idle adjustment plugs-it would be a bit harder with a hand drill. The bike seems to run fine, though I haven't had a chance to ride it yet due to cold/wet Michigan weather (just installed it on 3/20/05). Can't wait to see what difference it makes, though I've also installed new Hard Krome pipes and cranked up the advance with my Dyna ignition, so it will be tough to pinpoint which mod made how much difference. This was part of a complete upgrade of exhaust and intake. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

I picked it up through my local Yamaha dealer and paid $20 more than Cruiser Customizing has it listed. I also live at 6000' above sea level and had some problems with jetting the carbs. Barons technical support was great! They gave me the proper recomendation on the jet settings and the bike hasn't been the same since!!! Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful.
