Definitely needed to remove the bracket as 'suggested' in the instructions. UPDATE: Stock cables do NOT fit. Just wasn't safe. Adding new cables to my 'To Do' list. I changed the handlebars as i was getting sore shoulders with the sock setup, but not with the new ones. These risers with the lower and wider bars, help to take away the uncomfortable feeling in my lower back too. They do the job real well, and they complement the bike. Have purchased 4" oversize Barnett stainless cables, will refit when cables arrive. I had a problem with handle bars not sitting square to the bike. LHS seamed to be back more than the RHS.
