My wife got this for me for Christmas, but i didn't have anywhere to mount it until i got the new highway bars back in March. I finally installed it the other day. Although the installation basically involves screwing in a couple of screws, it took some time to figure out where the best mounting point would be, and i wanted to try to minimize trauma to the highway bars given it's a metal-to-metal mount. I found the best place for me was on the top of the left-side highway bar, with the lock facing the rear of the bike. This allows the helmet to hang away from the bike. I put some gorilla tape on the inside of the mounting surface. Of course i might never know if it helped since the one-way screws don't really allow you a second chance. I also went with the helmet-lock extenders to keep the helmet away from the bike more when it's locked. It's a nice replacement for the stock lock that is covered by the saddlebag now.
