CruiserCustomizing Staff Pick

BrakeAway Cruise Control is the safest aftermarket cruise control available. It is the only aftermarket cruise control that instantaneously disengages when you apply the front brake. Motorcyclists only have 3 defensive maneuvers to avoid bad situations; acceleration, swerving and braking. Imagine you are riding down the road and an oncoming car makes a sudden left turn directly in front of your path. If you have any other non-factory cruise control on your bike, you will have to manually disengage it in order to slow down. Will you have time to think disengaging your cruise control before impact? Dogs, deer, and other large animals wandering onto the roadway are a constant danger to motorcyclists as well and they are as unpredictable as the most inattentive driver. With a BrakeAway, simply grab the front brake and the cruise control disengages allowing you full concentration to plan your next move. Your safety is too important to take away 1 of your 3 defenses.

Some things are too important to shop for in terms of cheapest price. A BrakeAway Cruise Control is not only the safest choice, it is also the best quality aftermarket option. At Cruiser Customizing, we have seen a lot of customers purchase inexpensive cruise controls and have to replace them within a year because of poor quality and poor construction. Many are made of plastic or poorly cast metals. Why not do it right the first time and be assured that you have chosen the best aftermarket cruise control available?

All BrakeAway components are C.N.C machined from the highest quality materials, including 6061-T6 aircraft quality aluminum, stainless steel, and acetyl. All aluminum components are chemically polished and anodized making this cruise control a handsome and worthy addition to your street machine.

The BrakeAway Motorcycle Cruise Control is specifically designed to give you the rider relief, while maintaining a feeling of control. It features an easy push button engagement and instant push lever disengagement eliminating any fumbling around during manual operation. While the unit is engaged, throttle adjustment is easy and smooth, allowing speed to be adjusted in a full range up or down with a slight turn of the throttle.

BrakeAway Cruise Controls are easy to install, sliding directly over your stock grips and most aftermarket grips. The 5CP02 Model is designed to fit all the way over and completely cover the flange of the popular Kuryakyn Iso Grip. You will need to use dish soap to lubricate the rubber pads of the Iso grip and then walk the ring and ring cap down the grip. It is a tight fit but it will fit nicely.

Once you've experienced the quality feel of a BrakeAway Cruise Control, you'll never want to ride without it, and you probably won’t have to because it will last for years. It is not uncommon for our customers to remove their BrakeAway from an old bike before selling and reinstall it on their new bike.

The BrakeAway Cruise Control is a patented design with these great features:

  • Easy Push Button Engagement
  • Instant Front Brake or Thumb Lever Release
  • 100% C.N.C. Machined
  • Hand Polished
  • Slips over your grip for easy installation (SLIPS OVER 1-1/4" TO 1-1/2" dia. THROTTLE GRIPS.)
  • Made in the U.S.A

CruiserCustomizing Staff Pick

Overall Ratings: (5 stars) Reviewed on 11/01/07 by
CruiserCustomizing Staff: Kyle Bradshaw (ManyBikes) from Livermore, CA for a 2003 1300 VTX1300R (S) Retro:

I used to think that $200 was way too much to spend on some sort of throttle lock... But, that was until I installed and used this Breakaway unit. This piece is a super high quality machined aluminum unit which looks great on the bike.

Installation was simple... once I figured out how to maneuver the part over my Kuryakyn ISO grip rubber (it was in detailed in the instructions, so read them!). It took just a little bit of adjustment, but all in all it was a simple install.

Let me tell you, being able to roll down the road not wrapped around the throttle is a GREAT feeling. Safety is awesome as the unit releases with a touch of the front brake lever. This is an outstanding product which I would recommend to any rider!

Every bike should have one!

It took a few minutes to install and once on, I couldn't believe I was riding without one before.  This is a "must have" item if you take long trips.  It may be a little more expensive than other throttle devices, but you get what you pay for.  It engages and disengages at the touch of the button.  And the built in safety feature is awesome.  Once you touch the brake lever, the brake-away immediately disengages allowing you to stop without being under power.  Definitely buy one!

long distance necessity

This product is awsome. I installed it last week. Easy install. Works great. Keeps throttle locked until you want it off. Then just a quick front break or hit the release lever. Quick and easy with little or no thought about what you have to do to release it. Very safe. Getting ready to go to Sturgis in August. It will be a great help in the comfort area on a long haul.
