For my Honda, it actually snaps into place in just the right location, so the black zip ties are really just extra insurance against having it fall off. Though you might think it's a bit low end to use zip ties on a chrome accessory, think again. Other shaft covers use 2-sided tape which is not a desirable way to go (no real chance to do it twice). If you also want the bolt cover, do both at the same time as the shaft cover abuts the bolt cover well and helps secure it in place. Will update once on the bike. UPDATE: Installed. Very Easy. The shaft cover actually helps keep the bolt cover tight as all the bolt cover has to secue to the bike is two set screws. Looks great though. Finishes if the dull side of the bike nicely. The shaft cover snaps onto the shaft and is pretty tight. You also secure with 2 zip ties. I was skeptical at first, but you can hide them fairly easy. I left one in view butted up next to the bolt cover... looks like it came that way. I'm pleased with it.
