Unsecured saddlebags can end up in the rear wheel if you don't take precautions. Consider Cobra's Bag Supports chrome-steel protection for spoked-chewed luggage. These supports attach to existing hard mounts on the bike for quick installation. Made of thick steel tubing bent to fit each bike model and then polished and chrome plated. I don't understand WHY cobra surrounds the mounting bolts so ONLY button head bolts ( metric) can be used. These bolts are VERY hard to find - costing me another $20 for 4 bolts of the correct length !!!!! Beware !! If you have a Rear rack or sissy bar installed the bolts supplied by Cobra will NOT be long enough - good luck finding the ones you will need !! As others have pointed out the SUPPORTS have a very large "Cant" holding your bags out away from the bike on an angle. Looks funny from the rear of the bike. No reason why the bags can't hang straight down, at least on my model bike.

I got these saddlebag supports. Best price I could find. I've been told they might not be necessary, depending on your bags, but I'm glad I have them. So far so good.

This supports are very good and easy to install. It hardly took maybe 15 minutes at the most. The only bad thing that I found out later when I decided to install a backrest, the bolts that came with the supports were too short, I needed longer bolts. The bolts (longer) are very hard to find (original looking ones) and you do need them in order to install a Hondaline backrest like I did. Overall a nice item at a very affordable price.
