I did have to have the heat shields shortened, cut them to 3 1/8 in. to fit next to the stock shields. Sliding them under the existing shields as the instructions state does not work, and causes a vibration at certain rpm's. Definitley mount the main bracket first, then pipes individually, then attach all parts, great recommendation from an earlier review. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Had to smooth out I.D. (rat-tail file ) due to welding flash and ridge inside pipes to fit over stock exhaust pipes. Would recommend installing mounting bracket on lower pipe, installing lower, installing upper, and THEN bolting upper to mounting bracket. Way to difficult to try to slide on BOTH pipes at same time, as Cobra directions recommend. Other than that, install was fairly easy... LOVE the sound and the look. Would recommend these to anyone wanting to save a few bucks ( about half ) over full system. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

As of right now, it took me less than half an hour to pull the stock pipes off with four key bolts. Sliding on the new ones took a little more time for me. The wrong bolt was packaged with the item to bolt the regulator bracket on the frame. I called Cobra and they were quick to answer and resolve the problem. They knew about the mistake and shipped me the correct part instantly. The chrome seems to be very nice and harder to scratch than the stock pipes. I tested it. Also, weighed them out and the Cobra pipes take off approximately 15 lbs from the bike. I have finally went out for a few miles, 70, and got an idea of the pipes. As many have said, they do have a nice rumble to them at idle or cruising at a low idle. Which is exactly what I was looking for. I am still trying to get used to the accelerating and higher throttle though. Instead of the bub bub bub bub deep throaty sound that I am looking for, it sounds more like a ...
