It's not very thick about 1".If you are standing off two the side looking at your bike you really don't even pay it no mine.But it does look good from the front & back view at it , ( If I can just kept it in place , it will slide down the Bar to where it can't go no more )

The pad is average. The mounting brackets have a tendancy to slip down the sissy bar, though, no matter how tight you crank the screws. I stripped the hex out of one of the screws as well.
