The finish does not hold up that well so it oxidizes out to that dull grey aluminum color that we all know and love. (NOT!) It does come in handy in those hot asphalt parking lots here in Florida where the blazing sub-tropical sun turns the surface of the parking lot to almost a hot oozing tar. The Magna is a heavy mid-sized bike, and it leans quite a bit ... so anything to give a better and more stable surface under the kick stand is a good thing!
