In my case, also allowed me to place the plate higher up on the Jardine plate mount, and closer to the fender. Very fiddly to work in the confined space under the rear fender. Eventually took off the rear wheel; made wiring much easier. The only trick with this type of fitting is to ensure that you buy one that has a long shaft that will reach through the licence plate, any chrome trim that you may have installed, and leave enough thread protruding to take the nut.
