Drops the wind noise down enough to talk with a passenger while riding. The biggest advantage is the decrease in fatigue you feel after long rides from not fighting the wind (heading W on I-10 outside of Palm Springs). I keep the shield adjusted to just above eye level and it works great. The bike looks better without, but the shield comes on and off in seconds.
