They are open crotch, and so your privates get pretty cold if you are riding below 45 degrees for more than a half hour at highways speeds. The only improvement I can recommend is to upgrade the waist line connector seeing that it is a little flimsy. Other than that my legs stay warm and am fully satisfied.
