New range of bias and belted-bias high-mileage premium touring tires to replace the 491 Elite II in like sizes with black sidewalls.

Substantially improved wear resistance, traction and wet weather performance.

The bias-ply Elite 3 features a new profile modeled after the shape of modern radial-construction tires and shares many of the same benefits.

The load capacity of the E3 rear tire for the Honda GL1500 is increased to 992 pounds for greater carrying capacity.

I just had my second set of Elite 3 tires installed on my 2003 1500 Vulcan Classic - the first set let me get 18,000 miles of the best ride I have had on any tire's that I've ever used. I went from a 150 stock tire to the 160 on the rear and could tell the difference. Would definitely recommend this tire. Ride safe.

I just recently put this tire on my bike but I can already tell there is a marked improvement over the 491 Elite II I took off. I have several steel grate bridges in my vicinity and they don't seem to effect the handling near what as bad with the elite2. It is much better over bumps and grabs like a eagle's talon in the twisties. I would definitely recommend this tire to anyone looking for a great tire.

I'll stick with keeping a bias belted rear matched up with a bias belted front tire. The 160/80-16 is 7/8 in. taller than the stock 170/70-16 and that corrects the speedo error down to 4% instead of the usual 10%. It also increases the lean angle before the footboards touch down by a significant amount. I've had Metzeler ME880's for around 40,000 miles on a Vulcan 1600, but after a couple thousand miles with the Elite 3's, this is the tire I'm going with from here on. Better wet traction, more compliant over the sharp bumps yet firm enough to really perform in the twisties. Impressive tire.
