Was a fairly easy install with the exception of the removing the stock screws all around on both carbs. Almost all stripped out and I replace everyone with stainless hex head replacements (Cost $10 from local hardware store). Removing the screws was the most time consuming of all, I would recommend an impact wrench before you even begin. I have noticed the bike is much smoother with both mods complete and shifting between gears is much different now. Dyno recommended 3 full back turns on the mixture screws, my dealer recommended 2 prior to me starting the project, I went with 3 like Dyno stated in the instructions. The hardest part was the brass screws, super soft metal like everyone else says. The right side took literally 2-3 hours just to get the 8 screws out. After screws are out, rest was easy. Used cc&d site for re-jet instructions tho. I replaced brass screws with hex heads, you need 15 m4-8-10, and 1 shorter one because of the choke cable, if you put a long on in that, it squeezes it and choke gets stuck. took 2 inexperienced 7 hours including 2 trips for screws to complete. the trouble shooting was the scary part, you sync the carbs when jetting, but I am going to take to shop to get fine tuned. but with baffles in now, its loud as hell, and gears are stretched out a bit more. over all, I love the performance upgrade, and plan on installing hyper-charger next time I feel like being frustrated all day, probably next summer. (4 stars) reviewed on 03/08/07 byMike (tbird_stud) from Columbia, MO, United States, for a 2005 650 V-Star Custom wrote: Install took about 1 hour from setup to cleanup. This is fairly easy to do if you have an exploded view of the carbs or experience with motorcycle carbs. One caution is to use an impact screwdriver or the brass screw heads on the carb will likely strip. Installed these with a set of Jardine pipes and I can feel a moderate performance increase. Definately worth the money. I would get the K&N filter to go along with it. Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

These will take the flat spots out of midrange and top end speeds. They will give you some pull when you dial it on at about 65+. Get better air cleaner or BAK and you will definately notice some performance increase. Had this installed at the dealer. Don"t have the patience to do this type of work. This kit is pricey for what you get but you will need it. Installation will cost you 2X the cost of the kit! Review Details 2 out of 2 members found this review helpful.
