(4 stars) reviewed on 08/01/07 byRussell (meangrn1800) from Burnsville, MN, United States, for a 2003 1800 VTX1800C wrote: Nice quality. Fairly Simple install also. Word of advice - before tightening all the bolts for the brackets and trying to attach backrest, use the spacer and bolt to line up the middle hole. If not, you will not be able to get the threads started when you attempt to re-attach the backrest to the bike. You could actually install it w/o removing the backrest, just have to remove the rear most bolt to attach the small spacer plate. Also, do not overtighten the backrest back on the bike. If you do, you will crack the chrome/plastic trim. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Bags come off in seconds for washing, polishing, maintenance, etc and no ugly supports. Plus, you can mount any bags you like. Install was easy, even around the complex Hondaline Deluxe backrest. (4 stars) reviewed on 05/17/06 byDave (XRIG61) from Weatherford, TX, United States, for a 2003 1800 VTX1800C wrote: O.K. 1st off the directions are very poorly written. I had to really sit down and look at the parts and figure out what the heck the directions were saying. What they did not say was that the mounting plate and bolts, mount to the cut outs in the backrest mounts. Once I finally figured out how they mount up, it was a snap. I jacked around with the mounting for about half an hour before I finally called the tech dept. I got the mess figured out and mounted about the time the tech guy called me back. He was very nice and assured me that I was going right. This is a two man job when it comes to marking and drilling the holes, and making sure that the bags are even and level. The locking and unlocking system is a great idea and works well. My only complaint would be that the mounting system has some play and the bags seem loose and move in and out and bounce around even while locked. The locking nubs don't really look bad with the bags off. Review Details 2 out of 2 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

(5 stars) reviewed on 04/07/06 byG. Brad (geebrad) from Ypsilanti, MI, United States, for a Black til I can get it custom painted 1800 VTX1800C wrote: These are very nice brackets. They go on and come off easily and they are lockable. They give me the clean look I wanted with saddlebags also when I take the bags off, only the post are left which blend into the bikes fenderail. The install was fairly easy if you read the directions thoroughly before you jump into the installation. The box says they can be installed in thirty minutes or less but if you want to do a good job I would take at least an hour. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
(4 stars) reviewed on 03/15/06 byDaryl Creek (dcreek) from Marysville, WA, United States, for a 2003 1800 VTX1800C wrote: Installed with my Saddleman Jumbo Slant bags. Attached to bags with (1/2" black bolts I got from Tacoma Screw which minimized the bolts protruding into the bag. Installation takes a good hour with bag attachment and hardware setup on bike. Brackets are nice and secure on bike. It is a plus to be able to remove bags and not see a hideous bracket. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

(4 stars) reviewed on 10/10/05 byNorm (williamvtx) from Lansing, IL, United States, for a 2003 1800 VTX1800C wrote: The easy part of this product is not the install. Took about 4 hours. The bracket slot for the post was not large enough. Had to file down the bracket until the post fit. Took an extra 1/2 hour. Marking and drilling bags to fit is time consuming, not really difficult. Hoping the fact that bags are easily removed makes up for the time spent installing brackets and bags. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
