On inspection the existing brake pads were worn. I quickly replace them with these pads and it made a tremendous difference. The 1800 is a heavy bike and these stopped it a lot smoother and with better control than the existing pads did. Initially they were a little 'grindy' although I did not resurface or change the rotors. It took about 50 miles and a couple of downhill stops to burnish in the new pads. I'm very happy with their performance so far. ~ 4000 miles since the install and still smooth and strong. I highly recommend these pads. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Bill (BlueGryphon) from Wilton, CA, United States, for a `05 Titanium 1800 VTX1800R (Retro) wrote: These brake pads have msde me appreciate OEM parts more than anything else could heve ever done. I bought them because the dealer didn't have OEM in stock. They were installed properly (important for following rap on them). They absolutely stop better than the OEM's but according to the mechanic that will only last for about 1/4 to 1/3 of the pad, then only as good as OEM. They will NOT outlast OEM for mileage. I rode my bike less than 2 miles before I had my first real stop. Yes, they stopped very well. However the racket that came from both the front and rear pads really caught my attention. It was like that sound that you get when you backpedal a derailer system on a mountain bike only VERY LOUD!!! There was NEVER a reduction in noise for about 50 miles so I went back to the dealer and asked them about it. They noted that these brakes ALWAYS make noise but they're cheaper than OEM and that's why they sell them. They tried to assure me that after 300 miles they would quiet do...
