Originally I got it for the cigarette lighter and to charge up the cell phone. You can use any 12 volt accessory in it. It does not come with a cigarette "lighter". In fact, no lighter I have tried will work in it. The socket is slightly larger than any lighter. All the accessories have a "spring loaded" plug that fits snug in the socket.
