I have a 1987 VT700C. Bought the bike in 1997, got the rack in 1999. This rack will fit any Shadow 1986 & 1987 VT700C or 1988 VT800C, as well as what is was made for. Even some Sabres. To fit on the VT700 or VT800, all that is needed is to file out the holes about a 1/8 inch to fit bolt pattern, and you should move the tail light back to the end of the rear fender for better visibility since this rack is 10" square. Easy to do. It is twice as large as the original rack that goes on the VT700. This was in stock, original is discontinued. Looks great.
