This item completes the retro look of the front end of the bike. It is metal, but kinda thin and for the VTX1300, you have to "bend" the sides in since this piece is the same one for the 1800 which has a wider fender. Installation was easy, BUT- you have to drill a hole in your fender for a plastic pressure bolt. It is held in place with double-sided adhesive tape, and this bolt keeps it in place, at least that's what Honda says it does. For $5.00 more you could get the one from National Cycle, which I have on the back fender. It looks great, but we'll see how well it holds up. It sure was a lot of money for something that feels kinda flimsy.
