They were on the bike when I got it. These pipes are loud, but not so loud they trigger the noise cameras in California.

Pipes look good and was easy to install. They need a bigger flang where they go into the head. Pipes sound good just not loud enough for me. Baffles were a bit of a pain to get out. I had to get a slide bar to remove them. Made it louder but still not loud enough. May have to tune them. Never had to remove the center stand to remove the old pipes or put the new ones on. It also took 2 months to get my pipes.

Overall, I really dig these pipes. Made my 1985 Yamaha Virago XV1000 sound like a bike should, but they're just not loud enough for my taste. Haven't taken the baffles out yet, I'll let you know how that goes. I felt these were a little too expensive, but hey, you get what you pay for. These pipes are pretty easy to install, though the original exhaust was a bitch to get off (due to rust). Had to take the center stand off for the installation, but it fits right back on afterwards. The baffles should come out easy, but they're installed with rivets so you may have to buy some bolts to put them back on, should you ever want to. I installed straight and did not re-jet and I'm running fine. Also, one of the bolts for the left passenger foot peg bolts into the original exhaust, and as such you'll need to unbolt the foot peg to remove the original exhaust. You'll want to buy a shorter bolt, some washers and a nut to secure it to the bike now that there is nowhere in the exhaus...

I found the system to go on extremely easy, It took about 30 min for me to put the systen on, I did find taking the center stand off was helpful,I'm waiting for the rejetting kit to show up, ran my bike down the road with pipes on and sounds really good.

2 hours and a phone call or two will 'get'r done!'. Be sure to purchase new copper exhaust gaskets as well. These pipes are awesome, very throaty but not obnoxious. It is raining tonight so I can't actually take it out for a ride. Additional instructions follow. As I started removing the stock exaust I found an entire 'exhust system' up inside the frame. I was reluctant to remove this amount of metal but then realized that part of the overheating problem I have had comes from the 'exhust box' that sits directly beneath the rear cylinder. By installing a full pipe system it removes all this heat and weight! Not mentioned in the Jardine instructions is the fact the Left passenger foot peg mounts directly to the exhust box. Once the stock exhaust system is removed you have to obtain a new 9mm nut to remount that passenger peg. The biggest 'trick' to removing the stock rear header is to drop the flange first then spread the 'retainer' ring of the header. This allows the flan...

Makes a manly sound and looks nice. Good idea is to put the Jet 1 into you carburator. makes a better sound and smoother gas consumption.

This exhaust system sounds very good but was a bit of PIA to install. Too be honest there just a bit "too loud" for us, we wish we could add a bit of baffel material. We also continue to have heavy deceleration poping, even with jet kit and professionally adjusted.

These pipes look great but are nearly impossible to install with the factory included directions. The KEY to this installation is to remove the center stand and install the pipes with the bike on the kickstand. I wish I had realized this before beginning the process. It would have saved me about four hours of trying to wiggle the new header into place. After i removed the centerstand the new pipes went on without a hitch in about twenty minutes. I have not had a chance to ride the bike with the news pipes on yet so I have no idea how they affect performance or the need to rejet the carbs.

Sweet sounding, good looking pipes that made my XV700 sound like I was hoping it would. They're loud, but not harsh...just nice and throaty. Installing them was actually pretty easy too, getting the old pipes off was the toughest part. (I installed a dynojet carb kit for the with the new pipes also.)
