The back plate is heavy cast aluminum where breather channels are molded into the support ribs on the back side to the intake throat. The entire mounting procedure and time it took to do it was about 45 minutes.The look of my bike after installation is very near how my bike looked before with the stock air filter. I can see how this back plate aids in engine cooling. The stack this comes with is very heavy duty rubber and all parts are very well made as usual for K&N. As far as performance, I could not ask for more. I mounted this kit with a set of Bub Rinehart slip-on mufflers at the same time. Response and handling is fantastic. These two go together very well. Everything you will need except the tools to mount this kit up is included in the box including the threadlocker for the screws.
