Four burnt bulbs and many fuses later I found that during the installation I pinched one of the wires between the bar and the mounting bracket. Not much room here (just a small groove) to stuff wires. I recommend installing the bracket to the bar (where you can see everything) and then installing the whole assembly to the bike. Leave enough wire in the spot housing so that you can pull the socket out if you need to install a new bulb. Material is not the best on the bar itself. Even though I clean and wax often corrosion began appearing on the bar about six months of driving. Lastly, I rolled the bike on it's side coming out of a gas station. Bike coughed, I stopped and the big VTX1800R just rolled over at that angle. The bar broke but he spot just had small scratches on the bezel. They look cool though. Recieved many compements on them. I'm looking for a new set now that I have put on some Cobra fatty bars for role ove... Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Produces just as much light, if not more, than the larger units and takes up less space. Turn signals are a liite lost in the intensity off the running lights, but they are still visible. Light bar looks fantastic and matches the VTX headlight very nicely, but the turnsignals/running lights are decoration and nothing more. The one I got had a short in it, that I had to track down and fix before installing. There appears also to be no way to adjust the height of where your lights point. So they pointed mostly as second story windows when I got them and I had to bend the mounting plate a bit to get a more reasonable point angle. The lights have a resonably tight spot on them as well, so it is important to get them pointed correctly. I was able to use this with my memphis shade windshield with no problems as well. As always these Kuryakyn parts are of high quality and high price. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

The main problems I am having with this lightbar has to do with connections. Kuryakyn recommends there universal wiring kit to wire this in, but this wiring kit comes with male /female connectors for the main lights. The LEDs have a three wire setup, one for running lights, one for turn signal/pulse, and a ground wire. The vtx1800R has only two wires to operate the turn signals. a hot wire and a ground. The other problem has to do with the on /off switch. After you route your wires from the battery, under the fuel tank to the headlight, you have to connect to an ignition power source. I used the headlight but the dadburn switch which you would want accessable, they suggest you just mount it some where with double back tape. What the hel* is up with that. Signals do flash fast w/out equalizer but will get silver bull. signals later. Directions were not as simple as they could have been but with a little experience, installation is easy. Highly recomend the Kury wiring harness. Would not dream of seeing the front of my bike now w/out these lights. Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful. Comes with two sets of visors which is good because the standard ones look a little strange next to the stock headlight; the second set matches the stock headlight almost perfectly. Dealer installed so I cannot advise on difficulty in wiring, etc. Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

It seems to be made to go with the VTX headlight. I installed the wiring using an inline fuse and a relay from Radioshack. I did have a problem wiring it up though. I pinched a wire when attaching the bar to the bracket. The reason is the wiring has to fit into this groove/channel in the bar and it is hard to get the bracket in place while keeping the wiring in the groove/channel. After fixing the pinched wire, I removed the casing around the three wires for the turn signals on each side. This gave the wires more room to fit where they needed to be. I would recommend you do this to make installation a little less painful. I also had to add washers to the bolts that hold the mounting bracket to the light bar; otherwise the bolts will bottom out. I removed my stock turn signals since I also installed turn signal mirrors. This cleans up the front end and makes it look that much better. The signals do blink faster but it may help others... Kuryakyn could go one step further in the engineering of this light bar. When mounting it on the mounting plate BE SURE YOU USE WASHERS!! The screws supplied are just a bit too long and you won't be able to tighten the bar against the plate(no washers supplied with light bar) If you give the screw one more tug to tighten it up, the screw will break and you'll be in a world of s___.I've been there. Be sure you tuck the hot wire from the light bar headlight up into the channel under the light bar first then cover it with the turn signal wires. If you don't you run a good chance of pinching the hot wire and blowing fuses. After you get it mounted, there's no way to adjust the beam. I took a tip from another purchaser which worked well but sounds terrible. Using a long crow bar and something to protect the nice crome where the fulcrum of the crow bar will be, I bent the mounting plate downward ever so slowly and carefully ... Received as Christmas gift (including dealer installation), so I have no skinned knuckle stories to share. Dealer replaced OEM turn signals with these weaker LEDs, but I won't sweat it until I get ticketed. I'm not nearly as worried about signalling my intentions to oncoming traffic, because I'm watching them. It's folks behind me I want to see my turn signal. Despite the disclaimer above, the Kuryakyn works perfectly with the Memphis Fats on my bike, without the use of special mounting brackets. Go figure. 082206 Postscript: Changed my mind about the turn signals and had the stock units reinstalled, so now I have both. The LEDs alone are just too wimpy, although they look good. LEDs shouldn't even be considered as sole turn signal, but make nice addition to OEMs. Had dealer install. Kuryakyn harness switch was junk, but dealer put Honda switch in headlight dimmer switch housing and looks great. Also is much safer than trying to find switch located "somewhere". Bar puts out lots of light. Styling looks great with bike. Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
