It contacts the shock before it gets in the fully upright position. All in all, great pegs. I just have a clearance problem on the rear with them. Update: I have ordered the Kuryakyn Cruise Pegs for Shadow 1100 and will move these pegs to the new location. The passenger pegs will be smaller Kuryakyn pegs. The pair I got actually had ends (close enough to the right ones too!), and with a little coaxing and 16 1/4 inch washers as shims (8 per side) to stablize and space the OEM spring, this was a simple install for the front. Thought about putting them on the rear, but the OEM Bracket was not quite a fit. Look great, feel much more stable than the OEM sticks.
