Allows me to know if my battery is charging which simply put, gives me a ease of mind to just relax and enjoy my ride. Especially needed when you have other items like myself on your bike. While installing a tow hitch wire connections, driving lights, a faring stereo system, and a 12 vdc plug for touring, I can know ahead of time if my charge system starts to fail. They work great and the quality seems decent. And for the price they provide invaluable information. My only advice is to be cautious as to where you mount it. Make sure it's where you can see it but that it's not directed straight at you. To me the green LEDs seem to dazzle a little and can be a bit distracting at night. They do dim at night but the greens seem to be the brightest. In daylight they are fine. Maybe we just have to get use to them. Very handy little item though. This gauge works like a charm! Easy to install and I mounted it on the rear part of the master cylinder. everyone who sees it says "wow, what a great little gadget!" The aesthetics is perfect as the gauge sits just below the tach's face. This piece is not only good for its looks but most of all its got excellent functionality. I got the power source from the instrument panel's backlight which is controlled by the ignition switch.
