I didn't install this item -- i had the dealer do it. It's a tricky installation and there's no way i'm going to try rejetting the carb myself. That said, this thing is cool. if it did nothing else but sit there with the butterflies fluttering at idle it would be a great accessory. but it does more than look cool... it really did provide a power increase that you can feel. the bike used to "run out of breath" at high rpm's, but now it pulls strong right up to the redline. in fact, i find myself hitting the rev limiter more often just because the motor is still making such good power. it used to feel like it would hit 100 mph if you had the guts to stay on the gas long enough... now it gets there in a hurry.

Installation was a little tricky. Instructions say you can remove the fuel tank if you like, but you really have to remove it so you can take the top off the air box. There were a couple of issues: 1) the flex tube air duct is very difficult to install, so be patient and persistent; 2) the instructions tell you to install the vacuum hose from a location behind the Hypercharger to the Hypercharger, the problem is you can't get to it once the unit is installed, so put the hose on the carb before you install the Hypercharger.

I had Cobra pipes installed at the same time as the hypercharger, so I can't tell how much power gain is from which goody, but I can tell you with confidence that there is more pep at the rear wheel. Even if this stole power AWAY from the engine, I'd STILL buy it just for how AWESOME it looks. The butterflies clicking at idle sounds great just over the rumble of my exhaust. This thing was turning heads just on the way home from the stealership.

Had my dealer install, so they could install the jet kit at the same time. Charger looks awesome, bike runs great and all the popping in the new DG pipes is gone now. Only issue... The dealer, nor I, was able to get the cover bolted on. The supplied screws simply weren't long enough to even start to thread in. Had to ride the bike home sans air cleaner. Went by Lowe's, bought some longer screws, and finished install. Will address with Kury when I see them in a couple of weeks at the Myrtle Beach rally.

UPDATE: Since I've had this hypercharger installed, it was not performed to my expectations at all. I took it back to the dealer because I was noticing engine hesitation at higher throttle, they did some modification (no idea what) and it really didn't help. I feel that the engine is getting too much air flow, but I really dont know what to do about it. I would not recommend this item.

My only complaint with the hypercharger was the install. my yamaha dealer had the bike for 3 weeks and could not get it to run good at all. I finally took it to r-cal racing in huntington beach ca. Rick is a terrific tech and a wizard with the dyno! highly recommend him for performance work and jetting. He had the bike for a day and it is running better than new! The hypercharger looks great, adds performance, and always gets attention. Make your beast look like a monster! Knowing what I know now, I would get one again for my next bike. Good luck. The Rev.
