I've had my tour pack stuffed with a 20 pound bag on top of the luggage rack and my wife along for the ride and noticed no difference in handling. Wife is more comfortable being able to stretch out a bit more (5'6" tall) and I don't have her breathing down my neck.......at least in the literal sense.
