All I can say is, you must have set yours wrong! I have much improved power and gas mileage. With a K&N filter and Vance and hines 2 into 1 my bike will scream. I had ordered a TFI controller but received the Kuryakyn Wild Things model (they are virtually the same.) On the Vulcan 1600, this modification along with opening up the air intake tract with the aftermarket filtration system of your choice (i.e Caddman kit) makes a hugely noticeable difference in power.
