First thing I put on. Adds a great look and gives a safety advantage (not to mention an aid to prevent damage to the bulk of the bike). Fastens to bolts already in the frame (horn, front of foot board) so installation is pretty turn-key. Of all the choices available am very happy that this is the one I wound up with.

Went on easy following the instructions provided. Pay close attention to the part about mounting the horn back. Was kind of concerned about its placement after reading a review about the product on this site. The review mentioned fender damage by the horn rubbing. MC already had this in mind that is why you have to mount the horn back horizontally instead of vertically. Under warning in the instructions!

Stupidly simple to install. It takes 15 minutes including putting your tools away. There is zero interference with the foot controls and it does look really great. Nice chrome job, and it makes me feel like my bike is a bit more protected.

Awesome engine guard. Although I had to wait nearly two months for it to arrive (it was on backorder), it was well worth the wait. It is one of the best designs I have seen (a friend had one on his bike). The part is perfectly chromed and fit the bike exactly. It is also very rugged and does not feel thin or cheap like some I have seen. With the proper tools it took about 10 minutes to install. It required removing the horn (the guard attaches where the horn was, and the horn is moved to the guard) and removing one bolt from each of the floorboards. New bolts are included. Please note that the picture is not the exact highway bars. The ones for the VTX 1300 connect at three points and not four. They also bend near the bottom to make room for the brake pedal and also your feet. Wearing my riding boots, these bars are never in the way. I highly recommend this guard to anyone.

Started with a Cobra bar. Got in the way of my toes and was very "floppy" when pressed from side to side. No way around this with a three point support system. This MC bar is also three point, not a 4 point like the picture but for some reason sturdier then the Cobra. The bottom 10 inches or so are bowed forward or bend back at the bottom so when attached, it opens an area just forward of your feet on the floorboard for your big toes. This does not show in the picture. It's engineered to bulge forward but not to hit the back of your stock fender. Looks great too. This bike is nearly 800 lbs without my weight. I'm sure it will bend in a crash, but will do just fine if the bike is bumped or dropped.

This is a beautiful piece of chrome you will love it. But don't be fooled into thinking this is a 10 minute bolt on accessory it's not. Alignment with OEM holes is an issue but nothing that a little time and thought can't overcome. I don't know if MC Enterprise is to blame or it's the result of being chromed but take your time and it will work. That being said I've added some install tips below. EVEN WITH ALL THE INSTALL ISSUES I WOULD BUY THIS ENGINE GUARD AGAIN WITH OUT A DOUBT. BEST LOOKING BAR FOR THE VTX 1300. Install tips: 1) Mount the horn towards the rear brake pedal Not the shifter. Test clearances before riding. 2)Dont tighten anything down until EVERYTING is lined up,then tighten each side alternating back and forth till both sides are snug. 3)This mounts BETWEEN the frame and your floorboards. The instructions are a little hazy. If you don't do it right don't worry you cant mess it up because it wont tighten down when intsalled wrong. Basically idiot proof. In...
