Kind of like being in stirrups (and not the ones used on horses). They only mount one way & that is above the cross-bar brace that the fan assembly mounts to and between the engine and frame. If you try to go below, the bar rests on the fan cage & the pegs get in the way of the foot controls. I had to remove the horn 1st to place the U-Bolt around the frame. if you could mount them on the outside of the frame (radiotor cover gets in the way) & could place them lower, they may have been OK. I'm going to have to make some spacers out of aluminum blocks & get longer u-bolts so I can do just. 2-3 inches forward & about 6 inches down will be perfect. 07/11/07 update: made spacers out of pvc brick molding & painted them black. got longer u-bolts & moved them in front of the radiator. still needs some tweeking & may need to be turned upside down & reversed (to get the right peg angle) but much better than they were, unmodif...
