Yep, there was some modifications required to the OEM fender frame. Also, in my case, be prepared to be clever with the parts, as I had to head out to my local Home Depot to pick up different bolts because the bolts supplied would not allow the light to be mounted flat to the bracket. I had to get flat head bolts, then had to use my chamfer bit on the drill to add a chamfer to the mounting holes to allow the bolt head to mount flush with the bracked material. The directions that come with this kit are not very detailed, and I had to sit and study everything before I proceeded with the install. Yep, it was an interesting job. Probably the toughest one I had to figure out almost for myself in order to complete the job. I opted to use the stock turn signal mounts for the Kury small silver bullets I used to replace the stock turn signals. But, with patience, I now have a very nice custom appearance on... To do the install yourself you must be able to cut the metal frame for the old taillight, And do some basic wiring. Just need different turn signals now. I wish is would have found the lights this guy makes before I bought these ones. http://ledbikelights.net/index.htm Looks like a really good product. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? I like the idea hope it works out. Light is plastic and you get one other metal frame. Does not look like much but we will see how it comes out. Update. The install was not bad took about 3 hours that includes paint and splice of the wires, cutting off the bottom of the metal frame and installation. This kit is a bit overwelming when you look at the parts and dirrections but it is all in black and white and comes out good. All information you need and parts are included. Good looking setup when complete and gives you alot of options for lights etc. Update the tag light part looks blue at night and the brake light is not real brite. But still cool. The product discription said there was no splicing, but the installation directions called for splicing. In addition I thought the tail light was not very weather proof. For the price it should be "plug & play" and waterproof. The stainless steel mount was very nicely made. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
