(3 stars) reviewed on 04/02/08 byDave Soto (trainwithdave) from Fenton, MO, United States, for a 2005 Black with flames. 1100 Shadow Sabre wrote: So they look pretty good. They takes the wind off of my torso and directs it straight to my legs. Better wear chaps if you install these! I mounted these to my Memphis Shades mounting bracket. Had to drill four holes and get some hardware but I made it work. THE BIG PROBLEM is that installing these reduces the turning radius A LOT. Now I can easily make a u turn but parking is a bit of a pain. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Later: Wow, what a job this turned out to be, got home from work on a Friday, between Friday and Sunday I got 4 hours sleep. As these lowers do not come with nuts or bolts, I had to do some hunting. Oh, if you want to save time (Not money), just get the entire setup from National, that's the windshield (Switchblade), light bar, engine guards, and correct lowers for the switchblade windshield. I found two pieces of matching aluminum braces from the old race car, 3-16 inch x 1 inch x 5, 1-2 inch, used these as backings on inside windshield bracket. Then a trip to AutoZone for bolts, was guided to Header Bolt Set, 3-8 inch x 3-4 inch long, besides bolt head able to take a 7-16 inch wrench, it also will tighten with a 3-16 inch Allen, even came with Allen hex head socket. Then 3-8 inch -16 prevailing torque lock nuts. Got chrome caps for the nuts and bolts, out the store... Review Details 1 out of 1 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? (3 stars) reviewed on 06/25/06 byBill (feiter) from Buellton, CA, United States, for a 2006 Black 1300 VTX1300R (S) Retro wrote: I like the product a lot but have had difficulty. The first problem you encounter is they are so close to the windshield mount hardware that tightening with certain types of tools like allen wrenchs is difficult if not impossible.. Also I think the Chrome Plating was not top notch and the welds should have been smothed out better prior to plating. On one of the post assembly tightenings the mounting spider used with the windshield and the lowers had a clamp tab break off. I have not been able to get National Cycle to ship me the corrent spiders. They keep sending me spiders which come with the windshield and not the chrome lowers so they are not long enought. I had to remove my windshield and the lowers and have not been able to use for weeks. National cycle was responsive in sending me replacements the first time but they are not acknowledignt the second mistake. Review Details 5 out of 5 members found this review helpful. (3 stars) reviewed on 07/01/04 byRobert Soden from Round Lake, IL, United States, for a 2006 Harley Davidson 1100 V-Star Silverado wrote: Doesn't fir the Silverado windshield without modifying mounting holes. I'm hesitant to drill out the existing holes due to fears the chrome may flake and rust develop. Currently mounted with one bolt and sandwiched between the windshield and mount. Stays in place OK. Definately cut down the amount of head buffeting at 60 and above. No buffeting at all up to 80. Review Details 4 out of 4 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
