Some other reviewers have said they ended up installing without the brass washer. This washer is necessary for the quick release to work properly, however, since it allows that top mounting peg to rotate as the windshield is popped on or off. Be aware that you will need a somewhat specialized tool - a 4 mm socket mounted allen wrench that can mount onto a torque wrench. Also note that torque specs are given in INCH/POUNDS for the bracket and FOOT/POUNDS for the windshield! The chrome is excellent and looks great on my Cruiser. Very difficult to get the metal strap that wraps around the fork to attach to the vertical bracket. Had to use a flat-head screwdriver to apply leverage to snap it in, even though that is not how the instructions read. You just have to make sure the screwdriver doesn't slip and scratch the forks/chrome. After installed, had to purchase a new torque wrench because mine doesn't go down to 75 inch lbs. That is the torque required to tighten up the four bolts with hex openings. Since I got it installed, I have been happy with it. Could not get the nuts to thread with the brass washers, and the clamps are sort of a pain to fasten. Had to use some elbow grease. Once its on, it works exactly as described. I definitely recommend if you don't have one, get one. I didn't tighten it enough and the bracket moved on me over time. This made it much closer to the gas tank so when I turned to lock the handlebars, it put a tiny ding in the tank. My mistake. Once tightened, I love them.
