Make sure that as you torque them down you use pounds per centimeter and not inch. No need to by a new metric wrench just get online and use a conversion chart. It is nice to have a removeable one too. These want you to tighten to 75 inch pounds. I broke 2 hex bits trying to do this. Easy install otherwise, just get stong bits. (4 stars) reviewed on 01/14/08 byOdie (OdieMN) from Minneapolis, MN, United States, for a 2008 1100 V-Star Classic wrote: Fairly easy to install. One of the brackets had to be ground down a bit for the bolt to be long enough. It would be better if the metal tension straps were chromed, but it doesn't look bad at all for what I was expecting. Finding the 75 in-lb torque wrench was the hardest part. Most everything you can find is heavier, so either plan on buying a wrench to go with this kit, or make sure your friends have a light torque wrench you can borrow. The kit is easy to intall, yet I was not expecting that a torque wrench was necessary, a bit hard to find but few $$ after the kit was installed. The shield fits perfectly well. (4 stars) reviewed on 06/14/06 byQuidproquo (quidproquo) from Hendersonville, TN, United States, for a 2005 Classic - Red/Liquid Silver 650 V-Star Classic wrote: This is obviously a requirement for the windshield to work. Great concept and idea.... however, the spider brackets that came with the chrome lowers that I orded too weren't long enough for the V-Star. I have to manufacture my own by drilling the short bolt out with a Dremel bit and then JBWelding in a longer screw of the same thread size. A complete pain in the butt to get the mounting hardware on timely and properly. However, once instaled - a great value. Mounting hardware looks great with shield on or off. Just be sure you have the correct parts. Should have been a simple install if they had sent the correct parts. I called National Cycle and they sent me longer bolts/brackets a few days later.... would have been nice to have the correct ones the first time. Overall, a nice product.
