Riding around town I don't use it, but it's on the rest of the time. It keeps the wind from beating you to death at highway speeds. I'm 6'2" so I sit high, more of my body in the airstream. My eye level is just over the top of the windshield, perfect...... If it's raining, it deflects the rain over my head and I don't have to look through the windshield. Same for bugs, I rarely get thumped by anything in the face area.
