2. Myrtle Beach Bike Week and Rolling Thunder Update:

Having fun in the burnout pit.

The CruiserCustomizing promotional tour is rolling along! 3 months and 17,000 miles after leaving San Francisco I'm back on the East Coast.
Myrtle Beach Bike Week was a blast. An estimated 200,000 bikers visited the shores of South Carolina for the 62nd Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Vendors and events were spread out from North Myrtle Beach to Murrells Inlet in the South and the event was easily accessible. That way it didn't feel crowded at all and I could test ride both the Victory with the new Freedom engine and the New Indian Chief with the PowerPlus 100 engine, both are really sweet bikes.
Highlights included the burnout contest at "Suck, Bang, Blow" saloon and the Marshall Tucker band performing Friday night at the House of Blues.

I've never seen so many bikes in one place!

A few days after Myrtle Beach I was touring the Blue Ridge Parkway in freezing cold weather before met I up with the "Ride to the Wall" group. They had left L.A. for a group ride to D.C. for the Rolling Thunder event on memorial day weekend. They split up somewhere in New Mexico in a southern and central route. Our member and site supporter "buddyman" told me about the group and they all remembered her beautiful Valkyrie when they rode through Odessa, TX.

The day I joined them they met back up with the central route and we rode together into D.C. Over 300 bikes in a 3 mile long formation. We visited the Iwo Jima and Lincoln memorial and "The Wall". I had a great time camping with all the riders, many of them veterans and listening to their incredible stories about the wars and the times they went through.

Saturday we went to Arlington National Cementary and Sunday was the big parade. We rode in a police escort to the Pentagon parking lot with thousands of bystanders waving. Workers on top of the damaged Pentagon stood on the roof and waived - incredible moments.

Bikes lined up in the huge Pentagon parking lot from 7 am to 12 noon. Estimates are as high as half a million bikes which would make it the largest biker event ever. The whole day the rumble of the engines was in the air.
I met many CruiserCustomizing members, for example Chas Roscow (Croscow)
It took over four hours from the time the first bike took off until the last one was on the road!

I had a fantastic time and am looking forward to attending Americade and Laconia bike weeks in June before I'll be heading to the Honda Hoot. If you want to meet me at the events or on the way email me at uwe@CruiserCustomizing.com.
