grsshppr's Custom Paint Job ...
|
The first question you might ask is how I got nicknamed grasshopper.
In 1995 I started practicing martial arts. When my co-workers found
out that I was studying the ancient ways, they started to tease me with
"Grasshopper sayings". If you remember the old "Kung Fu" tv show when
the master was talking to the young white boy and said "When you can
take the pebble from my hand, you can leave the temple young
grasshopper" or something like that. The teasing lasted for a little
bit, but then it stopped. The guys eventually put a small taped banner
on my work locker that read "Grasshopper". Since then the name stuck
with me.
In 2000, I started riding motorcycles. I bought a 2001 Honda Sabre.
Originally I got the black/silver color because I'm a Oakland Raiders
fan. One day I was talking with Spyder (Steve Ward) about painting my
bike. At first, I was going to paint it a solid Midnight Kandy Blue.
Spyder mentioned that a dark Kandy Green would be cool because of my
nickname. And as they say, the rest is history.

... and matching Tatoo
|
As for the tattoo, I was going to get a tribal band to start off with.
After talking to a few fellas on the Sabre Group Forum, they suggested
that I should get something different. Then it came to me, get the
same picture as on my scoot. My bike and my tattoo have the same
picture.
The tattoo is not completely done. It only needs some minor coloring
in certain areas. The grasshopper banner on top is made out of grass
blades with some weeds in the background.

3. Updates:
Our shipping clerk Kenny "BearKiller just got out of the hospital after a terrible
motorcycle accident, please send him your well wishes.
Check this out! Here's a little story we think you will find interesting about Kenny and those who are pulling for his recovery:
Kenny had been exchanging a few emails with some Marines that are currently stationed in Kuwait. One of them, a man by the name of Master Sargent Jeff Griswold
sent Kenny the following email:
Kenny,
We would like to do something for you, we have flown a Flag over the Tactical Air Command Center in Almed Al Jaber, Kuwait in your honor and would like to send it to you.
Could you please send us your address so we can get it to you. Get well soon. God Bless!
Master Sergeant Jeff L Griswold
Acting Sergeant Major Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron
Marine Air Control Group 38
3rd Marine Air Wing
Kuwait
Kenny was blown away, to say the least! We here at Cruiser Customizing were so touched by this gesture that we emailed Jeff to thank him and offer to send him a Cruiser Customizing t-shirt
to say "thanks" for doing this for Kenny. Here was his reply:
Dennis,
We would love a T-Shirt; however, it isn't a selfless gesture if we receive something for it. As Marines, we actually believe all that honor, courage,
and commitment stuff that others only give lip service to. Our thanks is in the product that guys provide. Let me see if I can tell you what I mean.
During the war, a lot of our Marines were scared and preoccupied with what they were going to face in the coming days. One of my Staff Sergeants is an
ardent rider and loves to customize his rides. So we started talking among ourselves about what we would do with the bikes we were going to get when we
got home, if we got home. The guys that had bikes told the rest about the freedom of riding and the joy of being on the road. It caught like wild fire,
even I decided to buy a bike. Everyone talked about what they were going to do to customize their bike, even if they didn't have one. They were all going to buy one.
For the first time in a long time, everybody had something on their mind besides being far from home in a place where everyone wanted to kill us. Some of the Marines
have gone home already, a few even bought the bikes that they said they would. Some never will, cause they never had the opportunity. Your web site helped those that
needed help here. When Kenny had his accident, we saw a opportunity to help him out the way we received it. It isn't much and the debt is along way from being paid.
So, thanks for the offer; but, we'll buy one when we get home. God Bless!
Master Sergeant Jeff L Griswold
United States Marine Corps
Kuwait
Cruiser Customizing would like to thank the guys overseas that are putting their lives on the line to protect this country and to help out the
Iraqi people in this time of crisis, and to thank them for the very kind and generous gesture they have shown to a fellow rider who is injured back here in the states.
We hope and pray that everyone makes it back safe and is able to get the bike they want, so that they may experience the joy and freedom of motorcycling that we all know and love.
