My first memory of motorcycles was at the age of 7, living in Yokohama, Japan. My dad came home one day with a motorcycle and took me for a ride. He scared the living daylights out of me when he headed straight for the house then did a quick left. Needless to say, I never wanted to get on a motorcycle again.
I've always loved motorcycles and would draw choppers all the time when I was young but would be afraid to get on one.
Fast forward to 1992, one of my friends kept talking about getting a motorcycle and I did everything in my power to discourage her due to my own fears. Fear of all the motorcycle accidents and near collisions I had seen. I had seen so many near misses of people just not seeing the motorcyclists that it discouraged me big time. It really didn't help when my brother's friend, riding his motorcycle went head first into the back of the car in front of him, who had slammed on their brakes. He is now a paraplegic. I succeeded and she never talked about it again.
In 1995 one of my friends thought he would take me for a ride on his Ninja during rush hour traffic in the evening and I agreed. I was so frickin' scared, I held on for dear life and swore I would never get on a motorcycle again. The closest I would get to riding on a motorcycle was a quad. I loved it!!! Then I rode on a dirt bike. Didn't get out of 2nd gear and I was just fine and dandy with that.
It's now 2000 and one of my best friends was also into motorcycles and this time I decided not to discourage her from riding like I did with my other friend. I don't think she would have taken my crap anyway.
She was so excited about getting her first bike, a Honda Rebel 250. She now rides a 2002 Honda VLX 600. I don't know if it was her enthusiasm of riding or that I was willing to try it but I decided to buy my neighbors Honda Rebel 250 back in 2001.
I took the MSF course, passed and started to ride my tiny little bike. I'm 5'5" and weighed probably more than the bike itself. I felt like I had stolen the bike from some kid because I looked too big on it. I put 2 miles on that puppy and traded her in for a 1997 Yamaha Virago. I just loved that bike. Put about 2000 miles on it and said it was time for something bigger.
In March 2002, I bought my current bike, a 2002 Honda Aero 1100 and I love my beast! I put a couple thousand dollars into customizing it and I'm not stopping yet. Since I can't afford the HD Road King Classic FLHRCI, I'm mimicking it the best I can. Even down to the Road King leather bags. I have yet to put them on but they have been re-leathered and studded to go with the rest of my bike's look. Took off the Harley emblem and replaced it with the Aero emblem. It looks pretty good if I say so myself.

In late 2002 my friend and I decided to start our own women's motorcycle club here in San Diego called Moto Angelz.
So, here I am now 41 and can't wait for the weekends to head out on the open road.
Who would of thunketh, I'd be riding a motorcycle? Definitely not me.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
