KitsapMike (kitsapmike) from , WA, United States, for a 2008 1100 V-Star Silverado wrote: Finally got the riser a couple of weeks ago after having it on order for 4 months and installed it 5/23/2010. Was relatively simple to install, follow the instructions, came with a newer wire attachments compared to other reviews I've read, easy to wire into the right coil on my 2008 V-star 1100 Silverado, as stated in the instructions, the 1/2 inch bolts went right though the tree, no drilling or reaming, was snug though the wire guides, but it held the bolts in place while positioning the risers. I did assemble the riser completely to help align both sides (did have to ran a tap in the 4 top screw, had chroming in them. The finish is fantastic, like looking in a mirror. Did have to re route the clutch and choke to the inside of the tree, throttle cables were just fine and i did have to rotate the front break line and move to the outside of the windshield mount. Looks like I will be doing the braded lines sometime this summer. So far with one day riding to and from work, love the new... Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Brian Chace (BrianChace) from Frederic, MI, United States, for a 2008 Cobalt Blue 1600/1700 Road Star Silverado wrote: great item. Tach works well and bars feel more comfortable with the pullback. All OEM cables and wires still fit with the new riser. The only part of the installation that was at all tricky was having to ream out the wire/cable guide mounting holes. (The guide sits under the top of the triple tree and is held on by the riser bolts. The OEM bolts are of course metric, and the bolts with this riser kit are 1/2". Don't know why parts made for a metric bike aren't metric, but they're not.) Wasn't too hard to hook up the tach, though there's not much room for the piggyback wiring clip on the frame side of the coil. I used the coil mounting bolt to attach the ground wire, after scraping the paint from the underside of the bolt head. Seems to work well. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Jack (timmo1) from Midwest City, OK, United States, for a 2007 1100 V-Star Classic wrote: kick ass! i had no idea my engine was revving so low, he-he. also, it's a drastic change in grip position-for the better. i'd love the new position if i could roll the bars back more but the front brake line is too short. i wanted new braided lines anyway. i DID spread open the cable guide to relieve some stress. installation is frustrating without help but doable. loosely install left riser first then you can wedge in the right-make sure you protect your finish and don't let the bars fall free during removal. it's tricky to get the new install centered but i've almost got it. had issues with electrical connections. like other, one of the male crimp-on connnectors was too wide and just would not plug in. i made the choice to grind it down with the Dremel tool and that worked very well. good thing too because i like those piggy-back connectors. no advice is given on where to connect the ground wire. in the end i looped it around the plastic "kneck-cover" bolt, coiled the whole loom arou... Terry Reabel (treabel) from Ottawa, ON, Canada, for a 2004 Special Edition 330 1100 V-Star Silverado wrote: Install went pretty good, had a bit of trouble with wiring. mixed wires up (and I triple checked it). rear cyl wouldn't fire and tach would not work but light worked. Found that I had reversed the coil wires. Other problems - choke cable length ok, throttle cables ok, brake line real tight. Had to move clutch cable to behind triple tree. Hint - make sure to disconnect clutch and choke cable before removing handle bars as it makes it a lot easier to position bars into the risers. Plan on getting braided cables later, now i have a good excuse to. Find a lot more relaxed riding position although still experimenting with handlebar position and cramp buster position on the throttle, Review Details 4 out of 4 members found this review helpful.
