Was relatively simple to install, follow the instructions, came with a newer wire attachments compared to other reviews I've read, easy to wire into the right coil on my 2008 V-star 1100 Silverado, as stated in the instructions, the 1/2 inch bolts went right though the tree, no drilling or reaming, was snug though the wire guides, but it held the bolts in place while positioning the risers. I did assemble the riser completely to help align both sides (did have to ran a tap in the 4 top screw, had chroming in them. The finish is fantastic, like looking in a mirror. Did have to re route the clutch and choke to the inside of the tree, throttle cables were just fine and i did have to rotate the front break line and move to the outside of the windshield mount. Looks like I will be doing the braded lines sometime this summer. So far with one day riding to and from work, love the new... Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
(5 stars) reviewed on 05/14/09 byBrian Chace (BrianChace) from Frederic, MI, United States, for a 2008 Cobalt Blue 1600/1700 Road Star Silverado wrote: great item. Tach works well and bars feel more comfortable with the pullback. All OEM cables and wires still fit with the new riser. The only part of the installation that was at all tricky was having to ream out the wire/cable guide mounting holes. (The guide sits under the top of the triple tree and is held on by the riser bolts. The OEM bolts are of course metric, and the bolts with this riser kit are 1/2". Don't know why parts made for a metric bike aren't metric, but they're not.) Wasn't too hard to hook up the tach, though there's not much room for the piggyback wiring clip on the frame side of the coil. I used the coil mounting bolt to attach the ground wire, after scraping the paint from the underside of the bolt head. Seems to work well. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

(5 stars) reviewed on 08/12/08 byTerry Reabel (treabel) from Ottawa, ON, Canada, for a 2004 Special Edition 330 1100 V-Star Silverado wrote: Install went pretty good, had a bit of trouble with wiring. mixed wires up (and I triple checked it). rear cyl wouldn't fire and tach would not work but light worked. Found that I had reversed the coil wires. Other problems - choke cable length ok, throttle cables ok, brake line real tight. Had to move clutch cable to behind triple tree. Hint - make sure to disconnect clutch and choke cable before removing handle bars as it makes it a lot easier to position bars into the risers. Plan on getting braided cables later, now i have a good excuse to. Find a lot more relaxed riding position although still experimenting with handlebar position and cramp buster position on the throttle, Review Details 4 out of 4 members found this review helpful. I already hooked up the blue wire to the positive of a 9 volt battery and the black to the neg and the light lit up I will add to this after install. I have been running this for about a month now. It put me into a much better ridding position, now I can sit back and injoy the ride in more comfort. I took the installation to an extreme and did alot of cleaning and waxing while the bike was apart. The blue wire was extended into the headlight housing and hooked up to the running lights in the front to avoid a flickering tach light. I needed to rerought all the cables behind the tripple tree ... Review Details 11 out of 11 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

The bike improved drastically! installation is a bit tricky, don't forget to first slightly broaden the holes (from 12mm to 1/2 inch) on a wire bracket under tripple tree, supplied bolts will not fit. Had to discard widshield bag, not enough room. Rev counter and 4 inch risers are just fine piece of chrome. Only problem is flickering instrument light, especially on a low rpm. Control cables and wiring just fit fine. All together impressive! Review Details 3 out of 3 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

The relaxed feeling you get riding with the pull back riser is great. I dont know why Yamaha didnt install this as standard equipment. Wow! what a big big difference in control, comfort, and looks. The tach is very plain and serves it's pupose. Nothing special there. The install on my 2004 Road Star was a peice of cake. Took 2 hours max. I didn't have to move cables but did have to remove the cable guides under the tree because the bolts were to big for the holes. If you want to keep it you could drill it out just a bit bigger. I used a black cable tie to keep things looking neat. The instructions are easy to follow and simple. I read all the reviews I could find about this product prior to buying it. I was prepared to move cables and make adjustments but Since 3/4 of the reviews are on V Stars and not Road Stars the lay out of the bike is of course different . Thank God... This combination gives me both at a better price than I could find separately. The risers are by far the best mod I've made to this bike. My ability to control the bike has improved significantly, and the ride is much more comfortable. The tach is a nice addition. It has a light, so I can see it at night. It provides a better understanding of what's going on with the engine. I was able to install the whole thing by myself, but it would have gone quicker if I'd gotten a little help in a few spots. I lifted the front wheel off the ground and removed the top part of the triple tree to pull the brake and clutch cables back behind the tree (keeps you from having to disconnect the cables which can create other problems). The hex bolts that hold the handlebar clamp in place didn't want to go in at first, but a little WD-40 loosened them up. Once I was ready to install, I used red loctite. Installing the tach took a little time because... Review Details 12 out of 12 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

At first all I really wanted was the tack but now I like the 4" risers the best. Changed the whole dynamics of the bike. Handles better and more comfortable to ride. Don't know why but makes me feel more confident and comfortable when riding. Was not hard to install, took me about 2 hours. Put the risers on first. Covered the gas tank, removed the handlebars and laid them on the tank. Replaced the risers and gently put the handlebars back on. Had to move the front brake assembly forward (toward the center) about a 3/4 inch to relieve tension on the brake line. Moved the clutch cable behind triple-tree. Hardest thing about connection was getting to the coil. Removed the seat, tank and left fork cover. Removed the two bolts that holds down the coil so that I could get to the connectors. Connectors provided were too large the guage of wire so I could not crimp them as instructions said. Had to get out the ole soldering gun...
