I like these shocks. Can´t comment on the chrome quality yet. I went with the 12 inch and the bike looks nicer with the lowered rear end. Bought som chrome caps for the nuits ( 14 and 17mm). On my left side I have noticed that the passenger peg have dented my drive shaft cover. I will probably have to grind the passenger peg attatchment. The installation was not very difficult.

UPDATED: My shocks are the 13" Heavy Duty version. After more time with these, I have upped my rating for the product. Judged as budget shock absorbers, they are excellent, although they cannot compare with multiasjustable high-end products, naturally. But they are definitely a huge improvement over the worn, stock items they replaced. The 412s are quite supple while riding two-up and with acceptable damping damping control. For the price, they offer an excellent ride. I'm 100 kg / 220 lb with my gear on and I have found that I get the best ride with the preload set on #4 out of the 5 notches. Two-up, they are too soft IMO, especially if the passenger is more than 200 lb. Finish seems fine, but I'll see how they hold up over the years before I can say for certain. Fit was perfect, shocks being exactly the same length as the stock units - since the bike already has very limited cornering clearance and too much rake and trail, it would be ridiculous to lower the rear end further by fi...

Went with the 12.5" length and they beat Suzuki's stock shocks hands down. Would have liked the additional chrome that comes with the 418s, but with saddlebags covering them, these 412s will do just fine.

I purchased the 11.5" HD Progressive shocks and I am extremely pleased with them. The bike sits lower, looks great and rides beautifully. The top mount looked ugly until I purchased 2 chrome acorn nuts for the top mount from my local Suzuki dealer. These were the same as the bottom mount.

I do not recommend this shock or even this brand . I purchased the 412 11" series rated for the Intruder1400 with up to a 200 pound weight. I weigh 160 pounds and these shocks could not take the weight. After installing, within 25 miles, the shocks began to "bottom out"; causing the passenger peg mounts to hit the swing arm and the drive shaft casing. There are no modifications to my bike so I felt this should not be happening. After sending the shocks back under warranty, Progressive refused to replace them with a heavier shock (416, 418, 420, 440) stating that my 412s tested fine and that there was nothing wrong with them. I was willing to pay the difference for a properly rated shock to this bike. My point is that even though the shocks were rated for the Intruder1400, they are not working because they are causing the pegs to hit the frame. I feel this is dangerous because they hit with a tremendous force which could cause loss of control to the bike. Progressive's response wa...

Great shocks. I bought the 12.5 inch heavy duty version and lowered the bike 1 inch (stock is 13.5) Nice polished chrome. A snap to install especially if you have a bike jack (Can do both at once)

I have the 12" Heavy Duty Progressive shocks on my VS1400. The 1" drop in height gets rid of the gap between the fender and tire, but still leaves an acceptable amount of cornering clearance. Intallation would have been much easier if I had a motorcycle jack.

I ordered both the 11.0 Standards and the 11.5 Standards from CC. the 11.0's went on a 95 800 Intruder, the 11.5's went on a 1400 intruder. I wrote a review earlier on the 11.0 Standards. I got these shocks actually for no other reason than personal safety and well being. Before I got these Shocks on the 1400 fell over on Rhiannon. She is 5.4 140lb with a 30" inseam. Kathy is 5'3" 120 with a 29 inch inseam. Neither one of these people can sit on these bike flat footed. I got the bike off of Rhiannon. As Fast as I could. 6'2 170lb. Trashed myself. 3 weeks later she fell over on the 800. I hadn't healed up from the last incident. Wiped me out some more. For those of you out there that have concerns about people holding these bikes up on their tip toes. Ya GOTTA get these Shocks. They now sit flat footed and their knees are bent as well as they sit there. These bikes get real heavy when they are parked. They both love the ride and feel and handling of the intruders now. No...

Everyone please read!! Got the 11" version which gives a really nice look. Unfortunately, the tire rubs the fender over bumps unless the preload is fully torqued!! And I weigh 165 lbs. so this is not right. I measured for the 2" drop from the inside top of the fender, but didn't realize that the tire isn't centered in the fender (who would've thought?). So one side rubs on bumps while the other has plenty of room. My solution is to see if a skinnier tire will make the difference, because the bike is not what I'd call "comfortable" to ride right now with the springs so tight. (Though it beats the feeling of the tire slamming the fender when you hit a bump!) I like the fattness of the stock tire but I like the tire-close-to-fender look better, so I'll have to give up a little fattness. I'll update once I make the change, hopefully early summer 2005... Installation requires 2 people.

These shocks greatly improve the ride of the bike. They are easy to adjust with the included wrench for riding two up or with extra gear. I went with the Heavy Duty and just completed a 150 mile ride the my son along. Total weight was around 370 and the shocks worked great. Small bumps arn't even felt and the big ones are much more comfortable than with the stock shocks. I am very pleased with these and they work much better than the stock shocks.
