I would like to give the race tech springs a try since they are not much more money and they set them up for rider weight and style. You need a special tool to install these (the tool cost over $100 from Kawi, the aftermarket needs to make one, its quite a simple tool that shouldnt cost more than $35) Review Details Was this review helpful to you? (5 stars) reviewed on 04/04/08 byJeff (troop) from Stoughton, WI, United States, for a 2005 1600 Vulcan Mean Streak wrote: These fork springs reduce brake dive substantially while making the ride more controlled and solid feeling. Not the easiest to install as you need a special tool to remove a spacer plug in the left fork leg. I did mine with the forks on the bike and re-assembly went much easier when you learned how it came apart. Well worth the $$ if you can install yourself. (5 stars) reviewed on 09/28/07 byPat (PJD1962) from Grand Junction, CO, United States, for a 2003 1500 Vulcan Mean Streak wrote: Night and day difference over stock - the front doesn't dive anymore under heavy breaking, improves cornering and is much more stable and smooth on irregular pavement. Highly recommended. I had the dealer install becuase the left fork requires a special tool and I was having the bike in for it's 12K check-up anyway. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? I ride my streak like my friend rides his Gixer. I trust my front end completely with these. Much tougher install than rear shocks, though. Left hand fork takes a special tool to diassemble and reassemble. Also requires cutting off about 1" from both spring spacers. Messy too, if changing oil, etc. . Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
(5 stars) reviewed on 08/27/05 byFastpaul (fastpaul) from Staten Island, NY, United States, for a 2003 1500 Vulcan Mean Streak wrote: So far so good.......I installed these springs in my 2003 Mean Streak and felt the differance right a way. It doesn't dip as much anymore and I had to stiffen up the rear dampening to #3 to get it to balance with the front again. I also changed the fork oil to Amsoil Light Synthic Fork Oil when I did the springs. Oh yea......you need the wright tools to take the forks apart. So if you don't have them to a good bike mechanic you must go........Read the Service Manual Review Details 3 out of 3 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

The right one is a piece of cake to put in, but the left requires a special tool and a bit more work. The effort is worth the work, they are great, especially when used with the 440 shocks! You need a special tool to do the left side. Worth the effort... the bike floats but is firm!! Worth the package deal (front and rear)!! Review Details 2 out of 2 members found this review helpful.
