I recently read in Metric Road Bike Magazine that these bikes are set to run very lean for emissions concerns. In the Tech Panel section of the mag they stated that the recommendation is a two step colder plug. The stock plug is a DPR6-EA9. The colder plug is DPR8-EA9, or Iridium DPR8-EIX9. They also suggest going from 10-40 to 20-50 on synthetic and actually specify AMSOIL. The concept is by running a colder plug you are able to hold down the operating heat of the engine a bit. The heavier 20/50 weight oil has a slight edge in absorbing heat thereby pulling it from the engine. These are small changes but they help to reduce the concern about the mixture being lean by holding down the temps.. I spoke to a tech yesterday that recommended a modification to the injectors that will add 25HP and totally address lean burn mixtures. Maybe........
