Review Summary:
Overall, I really dig these pipes. Made my 1985 Yamaha Virago XV1000 sound like a bike should, but they're just not loud enough for my taste. Haven't taken the baffles out yet, I'll let you know how that goes. I felt these were a little too expensive, but hey, you get what you pay for. These pipes are pretty easy to install, though the original exhaust was a bitch to get off (due to rust). Had to take the center stand off for the installation, but it fits right back on afterwards. The baffles should come out easy, but they're installed with rivets so you may have to buy some bolts to put them back on, should you ever want to. I installed straight and did not re-jet and I'm running fine. Also, one of the bolts for the left passenger foot peg bolts into the original exhaust, and as such you'll need to unbolt the foot peg to remove the original exhaust. You'll want to buy a shorter bolt, some washers and a nut to secure it to the bike now that there is nowhere in the exhaust system to bolt it to (don't worry; there's still a place on the bike to bolt it on). One small note (this may not happen to you, but it happened to me); the rectifier/regulator is located on the back of the left passenger side foot peg and when I took that peg off the couplers located underneath the seat came undone (I didn't apply force, the coupler was just loose). My bike would start and run well, but the battery would slowly die and my bike would sputter out and leave me stranded all over the state--even on the highway. Easy fix, just reconnect the couplers and recharge your battery. Took me two weeks, a new battery and a dictionary full of curse words to figure this one out! In the end, I recommend these pipes. They're the best aftermarkets I've come across.
