The light has a good uniform beam and good weight (a light-weight light should throw up some red flags, if you know what I mean). When mountig, adding a spacer or a couple more washers is a must. That being said, the "retro" flange at the bottom of the light is extremely thin and WILL mushroom under pressure. Because of the thin material, metal washers/spacers woludn't allow a tight fit, so I used 1/2" rubber matting as a spacer inside the bell shaped flange(found at most feed and grain stores). This forms a snug fit while allowing for any directional adjustments you might want to make (I like a wide angle when riding country roads at night, but that is not exactly appreciated when riding on highways...oops). I also got the visors for this particular light...needed some "encouragement" for a proper fit (as is with almost all pre-formed sheet metal products).
