I was hoping that the whole thing was the vinyl leather, but now that I've owned some of the saddle bags for a while I'm glad that they are not. This bag is real nice. The side acess Ida definite plus. And the movable shelf is nice as well. Right now I have my jacket I the main compartment under the shelf and my girls jacket is in the roll bag on top. I still have about half of the main compartment available. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. Can't wait to take it son a long road trip. Bought this for the back of the bike so I can use the back seat for another bag for an extended trip. A lot of thought went into this design, good looks, easy access, lots of straps for different configurations, rain cover, and again...lots of room. The only thing I didn't like was the STRONG chemical smell. I aired it outside for a couple days and it subsided a little. Any clothes inside would retain the smell.
