So this bolt lets us go through the 10mm hole that's in our steering head and the larger diam goes into the risers. Make sure you use RED loctite (perm) when fitting these bolts into the holes in the risers. That way the bolt will not come loose. You then use blue loctite on your 10mm bolt head that is on your stock motorcycle, you reuse those nut's onto these bolts. First of all i screw in the bolt to the riser, put the riser down through the steering head to make sure the length is fine, I make sure i have enough thread coming through so i know how far I can screw the bolt into the riser (you need to go in at least 12mm to be secure) Once you know everything will fit go buy some red lock-tight and use it on the bolt thread you put into the riser (Let that cure for 24 hours before finishing installation) Once its cured, install the ris... Robert B (rbrownsb) from Colorado Springs, CO, for a 1997 1500 Vulcan Classic wrote: Install on a '97 Vulcan Classic 1500 is a little different. First, the threads that go into the risers do not fit through the holes on the triple tree, so you have to feed them down from the top. Since the threads don't protrude far enough, you are not able to use the wrench spots on the bolts, you have to improvise a way to hold the bolt threads, unless you happen to have 2 nuts that fit, which I didn't. I ended up using channel locks and wrapping the upper threads with 1/4" thick rubber, allowing me to hold the bolt in place, then I was able to wrench on the nuts from underneath, leaving a little play in order to thread the risers on, then torquing them down. Keith (keith_stepp) from Mesa, AZ, United States, for a 2009 900 Vulcan Classic LT wrote: Does not fit. With the windshield bracket installed, this stud is not long enough. The only way to get this stud to work is to not screw the stud all the way into the risers, making sure to leave enough room for a lock washer and nut to replace the stock self-locking nut. I'm not sure how safe it would be either. I imagine that once the bars are on and the nut tightened down nice and snug, it should be alright. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
