Install went smoth, it took an afternoon to finish the wiring. The bar itself went on quickly and not a problem. I attacked the long bolts a differnt way than cutting them down. (see other reviews) I replaced the two headlight mounting bolts with SS 8mm cap head bolts slightly shorter that the originals insted of cutting down the bolts supplied with the light bar. Also the lights themselves came with a new molded visors to match the light on my VTX. I did not need the visors I bought for the light bar. They should show the new lights in the adds They are a lot nicer than the ones you see in the pics. All in all added a lot of need light and really dressed up my bike. They outdone it this time. The Chrome is amazingly flawless. This picture does it no justice. You have to see it in person. Havn't installed it yet will add to review when I do. I am waiting on the handlebar light switch that national cycle makes part# n9001. Get one (HONDADIRECT.com) if you want it to look factory. The switch that comes with this lightbar is cheap and you have to drill a hole somewhere to mount it (sidecover). Don't know about you but I am not doing that. Remember though, if you are using this on a 1300 (wich you can by the way) remember to use the short barrel nuts/bolts that come with the kit instead of the long ones. Long bolts/nuts are for the 1800 wich has more travel. If you use the long ones the lightbar WILL hit your fender on a good bump. I have the Cobra Fatty Highway bar and the fatness of the light bar compliments it well on the VTX. A bit of a pita to install but results are worth it. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Don't freak out, they fit. Bolts that hold on bracket that holds the light bar need to be cut down at least a quarter of an inch and also use the smaller of the 2 bolt sets supplied. At this point your wondering were the set screws are that u did not get to hold in the directionals. ME TO!! Go back to the web sight and order them. They come with the adapters that are sold seperately. Or you can do as I did and ride without front directionals till they arrive. Wiring can be run from harness supplied(2 black wires) under tank using a coat hanger or unbolt the back of the tank and lift slightly. Some reviews say to hook up to rear directionals but this makes no sense to me as power and ground can be hooked to the battery and the wire that get hooked up to an excessory u can do what we did years ago in our cars and strip the end of the wire and shove it in with a fuse thats right there to the right of the battery... Install was easy but make sure you use the short stand-off nuts. It will slam the top of your fender. I underestimated the range of motion on the front forks. I installed the bar following the directions, using the longer of the two sets of barrel nuts that came with the bar. Big mistake. After 35 miles of riding with the new bar installed I now have a spot about 3/8 of an inch square worn into the top of my front fender from the bar rubbing on it. Reinstalled the bar with the shorter barrel nuts and eliminated the problem of the bar hitting the fender. I guess I'll be paying for a new paint job on the fender in the near future. LIve and learn. Other than that the bar is a great addition to the looks of the bike. Great big hunk of chromed aluminum. Expect to take several hours in installing it and two sets of hands is a must. Took extra time because of all the cutting, splicing and heat shrinking. After relocating the signal lights the wires still reached but were very tight. Cut and spliced all the wires to give more room to work with. Made all the ... Review Details 7 out of 7 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Their catalog doesn't list it for the 1300 VTX at all, but only for the 1800 VTX. Talking to their tech. dept., it isn't that it won't fit the 1300 but that if the forks bottom out it could damage the front fender and other parts of the bike. I haven't heard of this happening anywhere, but thought that I'd give everybody a heads up on this lightbar. I have talked to some of the vtxoa site members and none of them have had any problems with the bar yet, so perhaps Big Bike Parts is just erroring on the side of being safe and not being held liable for any damages. These lights are not deep making a perfect fit and are extremely bright. Turn signals mount under for a classy "one piece" look. Review Details 5 out of 5 members found this review helpful. What I learned during install: Adding the visors DO NOT remove the clip springs on the lights. Bend open the top one and move the lower two toward the bottom and have someone force the glass away from the chrome frame and slide the visor in. Move the clips back toward the middle. Use the relay and swiitch wire the relay to the brown and green wires from the taillight (right side near the back left of battery. I mounted the switich into the toolbox. Mounted the relay on the left side of the bike to the right of the battery using an existing mounting allen bolt. Used the short nut extensions with the existing bolts that hold the stock turn signal bar. I cut the light bolst by a 1/4 but probably did not have to. Taped the black light leads together and ran along the frame under the gas tank into and out of the headlight wire hole and then taped them to the exiisting turn signal wires to the newly mounted light bar. Lots of chrome and the contour between the spots is much nicer than the straight bar offered with other manufacturers. The aim of the spots was difficult to achieve since they pointed into the trees. Definitely gets you noticed and have seen motorists wait for me to pass before pulling out. Nice safety feature. I filed down the spacers on the bracket to pull the spotlight aim down to just above the high beam level. This enables me to run them at night without blinding someone until they just about pass me and just low enough to light up the night :). Disappointed with the dealers location of the on/off switch next to the tool box compartment. Very difficult to turn off. I want to relocate on the handlebars. The dealers wired them to the key wiht direct on/off when I want, nice feature Review Details 2 out of 2 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
