I have had to replace the mounting bracket four times. It is too cheap and flimsy to hold up to daily riding. It must be bent down a little to be effective or it will shine up into the trees. Low and behold, two days before I leave for Sturgis, I see another crack in the bracket. It has also blown several fuses. For what I paid for this item, I feel like I threw my money away. At my very first opportunity, this will come off of the bike and I will have my dealer install a Yamaha OEM light bar that I know will work and will not leave me with my driving lights and turn signals resting on my front fender. Warren (WDarmsted) from Discovery Bay, CA, US, for a 2012 1600/1700 Road Star Silverado wrote: Don't buy this light bar. I got it as a gift so I am stuck with it. Poor electrical instructions so I hooked it up to the steady burning front turn signals so it is on with the ignition and front head light. The bar itself is great, heavy and well chromed. This is part of the problem, as their mount is so flimsy the whole light bar vibrates badly, and I mean badly. If the the mount were thicker then you wouldn't be able to bend it and your lights would be pointed at the tree tops. There is no adjustment except to bend the already fimsy mounting bracket. trouble is when you bend the lights down to earth your stock turn signals hit your forks. I had a cobra before and would like it back, poor chrome and all. Review Details 3 out of 3 members found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Zlatko Reder (Skyman) from Belgrade, Serbia, , for a 2003 1600/1700 Road Star wrote: Installation requires certain knowledge, but not much! The problem is that the whole set-up is vibrating and lights are not height adjustable. The beams shoot too high, the lamps mountings would not allow required lowering. Solution is to bend the bar bracket slightly down. A bit disappointing. When driving over speed bumps or bumpy road the light bar hits front fender and dents it! Replacement mounting for the main light does not fit properly, so the beam shoots sky-high. If the mounting hole was punched only 1/4 inch to the back it would be perfect. Solution for vibration I found in cutting, drilling and bending a 3 millimeters thick stainless steel plate which runs parallel to original one. It is attached to the same holes on the light bar with slightly longer screws. The back side of the bracket is mounted on the either side of the bikes mounting block. There is +/- 1 inch space between original and new mounting bracket to fit the width of the block. By repositioning of the bra... Review Details 8 out of 8 members found this review helpful.
